PROTEST HEAVEN 7/10: Gerry Hemingway/Terrence McManus Duo07/10/2010 - 10:00pm
PROTEST HEAVEN jazz and improvised music series GERRY HEMINGWAY/TERRENCE MCMANUS DUO Terrence McManus (handmade guitars and electronic processing) and Gerry Hemingway (trap set and some acoustic and electronic addenda) perform a duo music that is primarily improvised, having evolved from several intense years of work together in numerous settings. Their previous work together has primarily been in the context of performing each other's compositions which as a process has more finely honed their collective musical language into a cohesive, thoughtful and far reaching results. There is no limit to the territory these two master improvisors might traverse. A Monk tune might present itself in a sincere traditional setting or may find itself extended beyond hardcore industrial noise textures. It is a music of interplay and listening, that engages, challenges and delights the listener all at once with its virtuosity, sense of humor, intensity and honesty. http://gerryhemingway.com 10pm, donation suggested PROTEST HEAVEN 7/3: Baker/Roebke + Nick Mazzarella Trio07/03/2010 - 10:00pm PROTEST HEAVEN jazz and improvised music series BAKER/ROEBKE Jim Baker - piano, ARP + NICK MAZZARELLA TRIO Nick Mazzarella - saxophones 10pm, donation suggested PROTEST HEAVEN 6/26: Shane Perlowin + Colorlist06/26/2010 - 10:00pm PROTEST HEAVEN jazz and improvised music series SHANE PERLOWIN (Asheville, NC) Shane Perlowin - solo guitar + COLORLIST Charles Gorczynski - saxophone, electronics 10pm, donation suggested Nora Barton Cello Concert08/29/2010 - 7:30pm 08/29/2010 - 9:00pm Nora Barton- Cello
